March Snow

Well, the storm didn’t pan out like they were predicting here in Estes Park. They were saying that we were going to get 20 inches up here and we only got 8 – 10. Still a great snow and very beautiful. This morning as the storm broke, the scenes it revealed were breathtaking! Longs Peak and the mountains along the divide were stunning. Due to some technical errors, this is really the only pic that was worth anything, and I have to keep it small or it’s a bit grainy… no idea why??

Just now, Lefty and Brat are down on the property and the weekend crowds are checking in. They are thrilled to see the elk strolling around the cabins. It looks to be a beautiful weekend in the rockies!

The weather has been so wonderful the past few days. The wildlife is out and enjoying it, there are flowers blooming and everyone is taking advantage by getting outside and getting active again! I went for a run in Lion Gulch yesterday and so many people were outside just enjoying life! Usually too many people on a trail bugs me, but it was fun to be around so many people just happy to be out in the mountains without snow, wind and cold!

The animals have been active too. We’ve had the bighorn down every day for the past few days. It’s the same herd… just ewes. I haven’t seen a ram in quite a while. Lefty and the crew are still haging out, thier antler are growing fast! The birds and smaller critters are very active as well.

And one of my favorite events has happend this year! We’ve had the first blooms on property! We have some crocus in a bed by #15 that have come up. I got a few pictures this morning with a very busy bee loading up!

But, we do have to remember that this is spring in the Rockies, and this has just been a taste of whats coming in the months to follow. But we are being brought back to reality, kicking and screaming, as a spring storm is supposed to roll though tonight and tomorrow. I’ve seen snow total projections of anywhere from 2 to 12 inches. So who knows, but I’ll be sure to post some pics. 60’s today and 30’s tomorrow! However, we desperately need some moisture, so I guess I’ll embrace it! It will just help green everything up and help the flowers along their way once it warms again.

Daisy and Tanner are doing great. They are characters and are continuously winning the hearts of everyone who walk in the door. Daisy followed me around the property today helping me with the picture taking. The chippies are back out, so they have something to occupy their days, continuously on the lookout! Keeping us safe!

Here are a few pics from the past couple of days… enjoy!
