Yesterday a good friend and I made a trek up Longs Peak. It’s still considered “technical” but we were able to do it without setting one foot in snow… we just walked around any that was on the trail past the keyhole. It was a beautiful day to be out. We made it to the trail head at 7 am and were back by 12:15. The trails were not very crowded as the “technical” status of the mountain has most scared off from giving it a go, so it was nice! It was a bit breezy at Granite Pass and in the Trough, but almost still everywhere else, including the summit.
If you’re thinking of giving this classic Colorado 14er a try, go for it! The trail is in great shape and it’s always a great hike, even if you just go up to the keyhole and turn around.
I can’t seem to find my little point and shoot camera, so all these pics were taken by Alan Smith. Enjoy!

It’s a beautiful morning here at McGregor. Your typical summer weather with bright blue skies that you can only see in Colorado and the wonderful mountain sights and smells. I went for a walk around the property this morning trying to get some shots of some of the little critters running around, but no luck. So I took a shot or two of Deer Mountain and a few of my trusty companion, and the McGregor mascot, Daisy.
There are a few opening next week, so if you’re on the fence… come on over!! We’d love to have you here at McGregor!
Enjoy the pics,
Michael
